Sunday Mornings

Mission: To prepare heart soil for Gospel seed.

Vision: The Children's Ministry at Journey Christian Church partners with parents and members of the body of Christ to lovingly and patiently prepare the hearts and minds of children for true repentance, faith, love, and satisfaction in God.

Journey Christian Church’s Sunday Morning Children’s Ministries take place during two time slots:

The SUNDAY SCHOOL session occurs before the service and runs from 9:15 - 10:15 a.m.

Nursery and Young Toddlers (Birth – 2 years) – Children are loved, cuddled, rocked, fed, sung to, prayed for and played with while you join us for Sunday School.

Older Toddlers and Preschool (2 – 5 years) – Children learn about the nature of God through an age-appropriate chronological study of the Bible (curriculum from Children Desiring God ministries). Children are trained in scripture memory, worship through song, and prayer.

•Elementary and Intermediate (1st – 6th grades) Children learn about and understand the nature of God and His purposes in their lives. The six different curricula from Children Desiring God do not teach Bible stories, but use the stories to teach about the nature and purposes of God.

The CHURCHTIME session occurs during the service, to provide age-appropriate teaching for children.

Nursery, Toddlers, and Preschool (Birth – 3 years) - Churchtime classes run for the entire service time, from 10 a.m. to the end of the service. Children are loved, cared for, and taught with age-appropriate and engaging curricula.

Students in Kindergarten through 5th grade -

The students will worship with the church body, and during the sermon they will have the opportunity to participate in an age appropriate churchtime class.

  • Lower Elementary (Kindergarten-2nd grade) - This class takes a look at how each Bible story connects to the Gospel as they learn to see Christ in the Old and New Testaments.
  • Upper Elementary (3rd grade-5th grade) - This class takes a more detailed look at how each Bible story connects to the Gospel as they learn to see Christ in the Old and New Testaments. The students will also be intentionally equipped to learn how to engage in a worship service as they will eventually transition to joining the church body for the entire worship service.
